Web Design & Development - How We Work

Philosophy
Here at CS Computers, our design philosophy is a mix of equal parts form and function, along with generous helpings of creativity.

The most visually stunning website in the world is no good to anyone, if you can't find the links. Similarly, the easiest site to navigate is dull and boring without some visual flare. Not only do we strive to make designs that look good, but they must also function. Usability and accessability should be given just as much weight as visual appeal. A solid framework, with clearly defined goals and needs should serve as the backbone to any project, upon which functional and aesthetic elements are layered.

Process
The creative and development process involves several steps. Initially, a meeting with the client is established to assess needs, discuss ideas, and outline the basic goals of a project. This is a time of getting to know one another, coming to understand the project at hand, and of forming a working relationship together.

After the groundwork has been laid, research begins, and the client is presented with a detailed "spec sheet" of the task at hand, including specific goals and the plans and technologies which will be used. To be as thorough as possible, the "spec sheet" may go through several revision in additional meetings or be accompanied by rough visual comps.

Once the spec sheet and all elements of the project have been agreed upon and approved by both client and designer/developer, development work begins on the project. This process consists of usually 2 rough design comps, and software beta testing, followed by a final comp and proofing, along with any final software changes or bugfixes.

Working with a clearly structured "to do" list going into the project has been a proven method for assuring that all aspects of the job are cost-effective and completed in an efficient and timely manner. It has been our experience that a little extra time and care taken at the beginning of a project can save several hours of development time and client expense.
