Keep Your PC Healthy
There are many common causes computer failure. The good news, however, is that you can prevent many of them. Below are some tips to keeping your PC healthy.
Keep it cool: Today's CPU's and graphics cards run at very high operating temperatures. Too much heat and not enough airflow can be deadly for your computer. Make sure your computer is in an open area where it can get plenty of fresh air. Check your fans regularly to ensure that you are getting good airflow and replace any fans that show signs of failure.
Keep it clean: All electronic devices attract dust particles, but dirt and debris can be especially bad for your computer. Make sure you keep your PC in a clean area, up off of the floor (especially carpet), and, using a can of compressed air, regularly clean the inside of your PC case and fans every 6 moths or so. We can do this for you if you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself.
Keep it safe: One of the best things you can do for your computer is to install an anti-virus program, and a spyware detection and removal tool. Then keep them updated and use them weekly! If you store a lot of important and personal documents on your computer, you may also want to consider a firewall, adding an extra layer of protection between your PC and the Internet.
